The following programs were presented for our 2017 meetings:

  • January 10, 2017 -- Rita Jungman
  • Rita Jungman, R. N./ARNP has a history of over thirty years of working in the emotional/mental health field, utilizing both traditional and non-traditional methods. She has a special interest in body awareness and consciousness and how these interact with and affect the mind/body spirit. Rita’s education and experience have been in the fields of psychiatry, hypnotherapy, and the mind/body “tapping” therapies including both EMDR and EFT.

The presentation will focus on increasing understanding of Rita’s work, with tools and tips for stability, and for improved mood, awareness, healing, and self-empowerment in times of stress. The newest sciences confirm that the mind/body and spirit are connected. Rita will present some of the research and experience that have led her to this same conclusion.

  • February 14, 2017 -- Valerie Sanchez
  • The speaker at our February presentation will be Valerie Sanchez. Her topic will be how Through Movement We Find Health -- a discussion on Nia Technique.

Valerie first discovered Nia while living in Honolulu, Hawaii in early 2011. She is passionate about health and well-being, and believes every single person on Earth should experience movement as medicine. She supports people in realizing their potential by using feel-good motivation to support them in ways that are flexible and adaptable to age, health, professions‚ and abilities. Valerie offers somatic movement experiences teaching people how to holistically condition their body, which results in self-healing and body-centered transformation.

At this presentation, Valerie will discuss how this movement modality can contribute to a happier, more relaxed‚ and healthier community. She will also share basic Nia fundamentals and ways that Nia is adaptable for everyone and all ages. She will show how Nia can accommodate many ability levels‚ making it not only a mind-body class but more specifically a specialized class within the fitness industry. Nia is an excellent cross-training element in fitness programs, and today, it is practiced by thousands of people in over 45 countries world-wide.

    About Nia:

Nia is an expressive body-mind-spirit movement program that offers an artistic and innovative approach to fitness and healing. Blending aspects of Martial Arts, Dance Arts, and Healing Arts, Nia provides a variety of movement dynamics to create an experience that involves your whole body, as well as your spirit. The stillness and concentration of Tai Chi, the dynamic poses of Yoga, the explosive power of Tae Kwon Do, and the grace and spontaneity of Modern and Ethnic dance make it possible to create a whole new sense of well-being! The use of rich, eclectic music, guided imagery, powerful kinesthetic cues, and heart-felt joy add to the full experience of a Nia class.

  • March 14, 2017 -- Ryan Sullivan -- Traditional Thai Massage
  • Thai Massage is an ancient system that uses assisted stretching in a graceful manner reminiscent of Hatha Yoga. The practitioner also uses hand and foot pressure along “lines” similar to acupressure meridians.

This sophisticated and effective therapy occurs upon a thick, comfortable mat at floor level rather than on a massage table. However, the techniques of Thai Massage can easily be adapted for use on a massage table.

Because of Thai Massage’s elegant usage of the body, practitioners’ hands do not get sore, their backs are not hunched over, and they feel rejuvenated along with the recipient.

Ryan Sullivan will demonstrate treatment of the entire body. He will also demonstrate how to move with efficiency and power.

Ryan is available for appointments. He can be reached at (850) 545-3949 and has more information on his website: www.HigherLevelHealing.com.

  • April 11, 2017 -- Amy McDowell -- Eden Energy Medicine for Empowering the Body’s Natural Healer
  • Amy is a faculty member for Donna Eden at her Eden Energy Medicine Certification Program (a two- to four-year healing school in Arizona andEngland). She is an Advanced Practitioner in Eden EM and offers classes as well as private sessions to help individuals reconnect with energetic health and flow.

At the April 11presentation, we will explore simple movements to support balance and flow in the body’s energies. With a focus on Donna Eden’s Daily Energy Routine and an emphasis on grounding as a foundational practice; we can tap, stretch, and connect areas of the body to restore flow and build healthy energy habits. If the majority of the group is familiar with the Daily Routine, we can expand into other exercises to support energetic health.

This work is effective as an independent healing system and/or can be paired with any other modality as a resource for self-care, for clients at home between sessions, and for loved ones who are in need of support. It is a brilliant resource to empower people to build awareness and flow in their own energies by tapping into the body’s natural desire to heal.
